DRAW SUMINK
LIFE DRAWING EVERY WEEK

We run an informal and relaxed, untaught, life drawing class in The Sanctuary Gallery on Wednesday nights from 7 – 9 pm. Sometimes there is the opportunity to start at 6pm. We like to have a varied selection of models to draw from, nude and costumed.The poses usually range from 5mins to 30mins but we like to negotiate the possibilities if anyone has any particular requirements.
Perfect for beginners and experienced artists too.
Life classes are £4.50 an hour and we serve tea and coffee in the break at 8pm. There is usually good parking in Great Russell Street behind our building.

SUMINK WORKSHOPS
SumInk is now running workshops both on and off site to individuals, groups, schools, adults and chidren with learning difficulties or physical disabilities; we believe everyone can benefit by being creative in print. Our workshops can be tailored to any event or group to fit either an open or tight brief. Below is a description of each workshop we run.

MIXED WORKSHOP – no experience necessary
We offer a basic introduction to printmaking which covers monoptype, monoprint and collograph. We can show you printmaking techniques such as drypointing and chine colle and also introduce you to good basic printmaking practice.
This is a great chance to to see how your own work will look in print – it's an excellent way of exploring new possibilities for your own art practice as well as being a nice opportunity to pick up a new skill.
This workshop takes place over two days – usually a weekend – but we can be flexible. On the first day, you will be introduced to printmaking procedures and techniques and the second day is your chance to make and create with your new found skills, exploring the possibilities at your own pace and supported by our team.
These workshops include all materials and take place in our studio in central Northampton. There is a maximum of five places. Please bring your own lunch. We can offer tea and coffee.
Unfortunately we do not have disabled access at present. There are three flights of stairs to our studio in the upper gallery.
This workshop: £100 each. Five places maximum. £25 deposit required in advance.

INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOPS
If you feel like you would like a little more support or attention than in a mixed group, we are happy to offer a one to one session where you can learn all of the above either by yourself or bring a friend along too.

OFF SITE WORKSHOPS
These kind of workshops are usually the most interesting and exciting. We have a portable printing press that we can take to your location and bring printmaking fun to you! We did just this at Barclaycard, Northampton and at Northampton Market (see our photos under the 'EVENTS' section).
So for an unusual and instructive but fun event you may want to consider this option!

We are able to work with children in small groups on site in your school or organisation to achieve educational fascinating and fun results

EVENTS
With our portable press we can add a new creative outlet to all vistors, regardless of age and ability.
HIRE SUMINK?
Are you a printmaker who doesn't need instruction or much support and would just like to get on with developing your own work, printing your own plates or in need of access to a press? If so, our studio and its equipment can be hired out to you.
You will receive a short, one off, induction on how we operate our working space but after that you are welcome to use the space for yourself and pay for materials such as paper and inks if you may need them - or bring your own.
At least one of our team will be there to help you out if you feel unsure of anything.

THE BIG PICTURE
13th & 14th June 2009
SumInk were invited by Northampton Borough Council to take part in their music and arts event, The Big Picture, in the market square Northampton. The event was organised as a celebration of Northampton's heritage and Sumink were excited to be a part of it.
"Very happy to say that I thought your printing workshop was excellent, wonderfully creative and it was a thrill to see the prints pegged up around the market stall drying! So many people wanted to take part that you seemed to have a crowd around you all day. Will certainly be booking you again soon."

The Big Picture was a huge success, we took our portable press, inks, pallet knives and scrim along to our very own market stall and invited people to take their inspiration from the atmosphere of the Square. We used perspex and drypoint techniques to scratch into the plates for the older kids and simple monotype for the toddlers.
Everyone took part - from the very young to the more mature. It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce some basic printmaking to people that otherwise might not have encountered it.
It was a great atmosphere, live bands, carnival and the sun never stopped shining. We really did help Northampton create SumInk !
